Lichtenberg - Berlin für Entdecker

Follow in the footsteps of the architectural avant-garde. In the 1920s, famous architects designed homes with plenty of light and greenery and marked the beginning of a new era of social housing.

Under the nationwide pilot project "Niedrigenergiehaus im Bestand" (pimping up old blocks into eco-buildings), the double high-rise apartment block at 35/37 Schulze-Boysen-Strasse has been converted to a low-energy building by the HOWOGE housing association, one of the largest municipal housing companies in Berlin. The result is the most environmentally-friendly building in Germany - and perhaps the most progressive.
