Lichtenberg - Berlin für Entdecker

The "Animal Palace", which was founded in 2001, provides a temporary home to as many as 2,000 animals. The futuristic installation of glass and concrete design houses Europe's biggest and most modern animal home, also serving as a set for many cinema films. The musical "Cats" was performed here to raise funds for the neutering of street cats.

Once the site of many revolutionary inventions that transformed the world of industry, today it resides as an extensive country park with wildlife habitats, meadows and multi-functional footpaths that are being created around the historic Herzberge Hospital.
