The "Animal Palace", which was founded in 2001, provides a temporary home to as many as 2,000 animals. The futuristic installation of glass and concrete design houses Europe's biggest and most modern animal home, also serving as a set for many cinema films. The musical "Cats" was performed here to raise funds for the neutering of street cats.
